Darker and slicker than a BP oil spill, London’s award winning cabaret stars Bourgeois & Maurice are a musical cabaret duo with style as sharp as their wit.
Part cabaret, part theatre, part catwalk freakshow they merge bitingly witty original songs with libellous gossip, social commentary and a truly astonishing collection of outfits.
Their songs blend unashamedly catchy pop hooks with satirical lyrics which take on a vast range of important human issues, from reptilian conspiracy theories to the eroticization of the finance sector.
As one of the UK’s leading cabaret acts they have performed in some of the country’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House, Southbank Centre, Wales Millennium Centre and the Royal Academy of Arts. They have enjoyed sell-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and also toured the music festival circuit with appearances at Glastonbury, Latitude, Bestival, Electric Picnic and Lovebox, among others.
They have written and produced five full-length theatre shows, their most recent production Sugartits was produced at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012 by Soho Theatre and Underbelly Productions. It toured to Soho Theatre, 17 UK venues and Adelaide Cabaret Festival. They won the London Cabaret Award for Best Music Act in 2012 and have been nominated in both years since. They have released 3 albums.
